Are you a heavy civil estimator who wants to play a meaningful role in shaping the projects your company builds?
We’re recruiting on behalf of a growing heavy civil construction and utility systems contractor serving communities from north of Seattle to Blaine. As demand continues to increase, this firm is expanding its preconstruction team to pursue new opportunities and support long-term growth.
This role offers a chance to be deeply involved in project strategy, risk evaluation, and winning work that matters.
The OpportunityAs a Senior Estimator, you’ll lead preconstruction efforts for public works and heavy civil projects, developing accurate, competitive bids while identifying risk, constructability challenges, and value opportunities.
This is more than producing numbers. You’ll:
- Influence which projects the company pursues
- Shape pricing strategy and risk management decisions
- Collaborate closely with project managers and field leaders
- Mentor junior estimators and support team development
Your expertise will directly impact project success from day one.
What You’ll Be Doing- Review plans, specifications, and contract documents to define scope and pricing
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for earthwork, utilities, paving, structures, and civil scopes
- Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier pricing
- Prepare cost breakdowns, bid summaries, and schedules of values
- Lead bid preparation and submission for hard-bid and negotiated projects
- Conduct site visits to assess conditions, risks, and logistics
- Analyze historical cost data and maintain accurate estimating databases
- Identify constructability issues, risks, and value engineering opportunities
- Collaborate with project teams to incorporate cost feedback from the field
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5–10 years of heavy civil estimating experience in Washington State
- Strong working knowledge of WSDOT Standard Specifications and public bidding procedures
- Proficiency in HCSS Heavy Bid, Bluebeam, Excel, and related estimating tools
- Proven ability to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines
- Strong analytical skills with a collaborative, detail-oriented approach
- Office-based role with site visits during preconstruction
- Local travel to project sites as needed
- $135,000 – $160,000 base salary, depending on experience
