We are looking for a software development manager with expertise and passion for building large-scale data-intensive systems and distributed systems. The role focuses on the next generation big data systems that transform data management on AWS and across the industry.

Experience with large-scale data analytics, big data platforms, highly available/fault-tolerant systems, replicated data storage, and operating complex services running in the cloud are considered pluses.

• Translating functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture and design
• Participating in code and design reviews to maintain high development standards
• Working with other teams to deliver and operate large-scale, distributed services in the cloud
• Overall system architecture, scalability, reliability, and performance
• Mentoring other engineers, defining our challenging technical culture, and helping to build a fast-growing team

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience
• 7+ years of engineering experience
• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services
• 3+ years of Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related experience
• 1+ years of providing technical leadership and project management for all aspects of the software development lifecycle
• 1+ years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using Java, C#, or C++
• 1+ years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using service-oriented architecture
• 1+ years of developing large-scale, multi-tiered distributed software systems using distributed programming
• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams

• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
• Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and effectiveness
