As a florist, you will be responsible for creating beautiful floral arrangements and providing exceptional customer service. You will design and arrange floral arrangements, bouquets, and other decor using flowers, plants, and other natural materials. This includes selecting the appropriate flowers and plants, arranging them into a beautiful design, and ensuring the right color, texture, and shape.

Florists play a crucial role in creating memorable moments for events and celebrations. They add an aesthetic appeal to meaningful expressions and other special occasions. Florists also help people express their emotions and feelings by creating personalized flower arrangements that convey a specific message.

Skills
  • Floral design:
    Florists must have a deep understanding of flowers, their characteristics, and variations to create unique and attractive floral arrangements. You should have strong skills in color coordination, floral arrangement, and an eye for detail.
  • Knowledge of motifs:
    You need to know the most popular floral designs and the motifs that fit different occasions. For example, round floral designs and cascading bouquets are common during weddings.
  • Proficiency in plant care:

Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or its equivalency
  • 1 year florist experience is preferred
  • 1 year customer service experience

Physical requirements include occasional lifting/carrying 25 pounds; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate two-way radio and data management. Subject to walking, standing, sitting, and kneeling to perform essential functions. Working conditions are primarily inside with limited exposure to temperature extremes, dust, damp/wet surfaces, and high noise levels.
