Location and Travel
Arlington, VA. Contract On-Site Flexibility/Remote: 60%.
Candidates must live in the DC Metro area to report to HQ in Arlington, VA twice per pay period. Must be US Citizen and able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Clearance.
Job SummaryWe are seeking a Scrum Master to join the team supporting our government contract. The Scrum Master will facilitate and guide the scrum team in adopting and implementing the Scrum framework – organizing and leading Scrum ceremonies, removing impediments, promoting collaboration and ensuring adherence to Scrum principles and values.
Position Primary Requirements- Develop and provide brown bags and training to JIRA users and management on best practices and applications for the agile process along with related reporting and summarizing activities in JIRA.
- Guide and coach the Scrum Team on how to use Agile practices and principles to deliver high quality products and services to our customers.
- Get the team to a high performing level by recognizing areas of strength and improvement and employing appropriate coaching and development techniques.
- Ensure Scrum is understood and the team adheres to Scrum theory, practice, and guidelines.
- Coaches the Scrum team in self-organization, cross-functional skillset, domain knowledge and communicates effectively, both internally and externally working within the Scrum team.
- Work with Scrum Team, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to influence and drive decision making and support organizational project or product teams.
- Resolve team impediments with other Scrum Masters to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum in the organization.
- Work with Agile coaches and other Scrum Masters to grow within the role.
- Contribute to the advancement and improvement of Agile practices within the organization.
- Facilitate and support all scrum events:
Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective. - Act as a leader who coaches and supports Agile teams.
- Exemplifies and promotes Agile values and principles
- Outstanding communication, facilitation, negotiation, and coaching skills
- Knowledge of an agile framework or method (i.e., Scrum, Kanban), or understanding of software development life cycle models as well as in-depth knowledge of traditional project management principles and practices
- Adept at refinement, story splitting, estimation, velocity, retrospection, and other Scrum techniques
- Planning and problem solving with product management and delivery teams
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years of product or project development experience, or 3 years of project development experience on an Agile Team or 4 years of additional experience is required in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
- Have at least three years' experience working in JIRA to manage ceremonies, capture sprint activities, record epics, stories, tasks, and other team activities, and develop reporting for leadership and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating meetings at multiple levels of an organization and an understanding of facilitation techniques.
- Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Certified Scrum Master.
- Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Clearance. Must not have traveled outside the US for a combined total of 6 months or more in last 5 years and have resided in the US for the last 5 years.
- All candidates must be a US Citizen.
- Pass a client mandated clearance process to include drug screening, criminal history check and credit check.
- Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last five years. Military Service excluded. (Exception does not include military family members.)
