GIS Map Developer - Level III

Overview

Arlington, VA Contract On-Site Flexibility/Remote: 100%

• Work with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) software and platforms, along with programming languages and tools for web mapping and spatial data management.
• Analyze and translate business requirements into efficient geospatial software designs that meet the needs of the organization and align with business goals and processes.
• Design and develop mapping applications, including user interfaces and spatial analysis features.
• Build interactive web maps using web mapping technologies.
• Handle and manipulate geospatial data.
• Utilize GIS software such as ArcGIS and cloud-based platforms for mapping tasks.
• Automate geospatial analysis processes and customize GIS software for project needs.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and team members to ensure database design meets project requirements.

• Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS software for geospatial applications.
• Understanding of geospatial data formats, projections, and cartography.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, stakeholders, and business users, and to translate technical concepts into non-technical terms.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, and C#.
• Working knowledge of GIS platforms like ArcGIS, QGIS, and web mapping technologies.
• Familiarity with spatial databases and cloud computing services.
• Experience with ArcGIS, QGIS, Map Info for creating and analyzing geographic data; programming in Python, JavaScript, C++, and Java to develop GIS applications and scripts; APIs such as ESRI Map APIs, Leaflet, and Open Layers; front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and frameworks (React, Vue.js, Angular); version control with Git.
• Working knowledge (2+ years) of one or more of the following: GIS principles, Agile methodologies, SDLC practices, Dev Sec Ops  and secure coding, cloud architecture, business process re-engineering, Change/Configuration Management (e.g., Version One, Service Now), and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM).

• A minimum of eight (8) to twelve (12) years of relevant experience.
• A degree from an accredited college/university in the applicable field. If degree is not in the applicable field, four additional years of related experience are required.
• Typically performs all functional duties independently.
• Special credentials (licenses and/or certifications) may be required at the Task Order level on a case-specific basis.

• Pass both client-mandated clearance processes to include drug screening, criminal history check, and credit check.
• All candidates must be a US citizen or have permanent resident status (Green Card).
• Candidate must have lived in the US for the past 5 years.
• Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last five years. Military service excluded. (Exception does not include military family members.)
