Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented attorney to support our Amazon Web Services (AWS) product development teams. AWS is at the forefront of the cloud computing industry, providing IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and more.

We're looking for a products counseling attorney to support some of AWS’s most innovative services. In this role, you will work directly with the business team as lead counsel to develop AWS products and services including for AI model development, managed quantum computing, serverless and containerized computing, and commercial business software. Your role will give you the opportunity to work with a variety of stakeholders, including privacy, public relations, and public policy teams.

You will develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative, business-centric ways, and you will build processes that address risk and allow the business to innovate and scale quickly. The successful candidate will be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.

• Identifying legal risks and proposing mitigation strategies;
• Advising on regulatory and compliance matters, privacy, intellectual property, and go-to-market strategy;
• Drafting and negotiating commercial licensing agreements; and
• Providing day-to-day input on business strategy.

• 5+ years of legal experience
• Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent

• Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
• Experience in transactional and technology licensing or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
