We are looking for a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer with a strong focus on database and backend testing to ensure the quality and reliability of a sophisticated healthcare solution.
Our project is a healthcare data platform for Medicare patient management. It addresses the challenge of fragmented medical data across healthcare facilities by consolidating information into a complete, structured, and readable patient chart for providers and staff. A key part of the system is data accuracy, consistency, and correct processing across services and databases, enabling advanced analytics and intelligence use cases that help healthcare providers deliver the highest quality of care.
This is an onsite position with regular office attendance in Arlington, VA.
What We’re Looking For- 5+ years of experience in manual backend testing, with a strong emphasis on data validation
- Advanced SQL skills and hands-on experience testing complex database logic (joins, subqueries, aggregations)
- Experience working with non-relational databases
- Strong experience in REST API testing, including request/response validation and error analysis
- Hands-on experience with JSON and tools like Postman
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture and backend integration testing
- Designing, writing, and executing test cases and test plans with a focus on backend data correctness
- Performing database testing to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across services
- Using advanced SQL queries (selects, joins, subqueries) to validate data processing and business logic
- Working with Cloud Console UI for backend testing: sending messages to queues, validating payloads, retrieving responses, and verifying correct data flow between services
- Validating API requests and responses, including proper error handling and edge cases
- Performing integration testing within a microservices-based system
- Identifying, documenting, and tracking defects related to backend logic and data issues
- Collaborating closely with developers and stakeholders to understand requirements and proactively identify data-related risks
- Ability to analyze complex JSON and XML data structures, particularly in healthcare contexts
- Experience with FHIR or HL7 protocols
- Understanding of FHIR standards, including resource types, operations, profiles, and extensions
- Experience improving or establishing QA processes, especially around backend and data testing
