Role OverviewAs the Configuration Manager and primary Systems Administrator for SAF/SA operational networks, you will establish and maintain configuration management frameworks, provide senior‑level systems administration across the dual‑site enterprise infrastructure, and ensure optimal performance and availability of analytic computing environments, including HPC clusters, AI/ML platforms, and cloud‑native systems.
Responsibilities- Implement configuration management standards and maintain daily operations for systems supporting leadership‑required analytic workflows.
- Provide system administration for high‑performance computing (HPC) and AI/ML workloads, including job schedulers, parallel file systems, GPU resources, and high‑performance interconnects.
- Maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, or Chef, and support Git Ops workflows.
- Perform advanced Linux systems administration on RHEL, Ubuntu, and SUSE; conduct kernel optimization, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with the SAF/SA Infrastructure Manager and Chief of Information Technology on daily system operations and incident response.
- Ensure compliance with configuration management principles, version control, change management, and security baselines.
- Respond to critical infrastructure incidents with 24/7 on‑call availability.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain/maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance.
- Position requires subject to random drug testing as part of the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.
- Current Linux certification (RHCE or equivalent). Proven expertise in configuration management, IaC concepts, and Git Ops workflows.
- Deep knowledge of HPC and analytical computing environments, including job scheduling, parallel file systems, GPU computing, and high‑performance networking.
- Expertise with Kubernetes and container orchestration, Helm charts, operators, and related security practices.
- Proficient in scripting with Python, Bash, Power Shell, YAML, and monitoring/observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, and ELK stack.
- Ability to develop reusable configuration templates and automation solutions for complex infrastructure deployments.
