Scientific Product Advisor

Select Source Solutions, in partnership with a team, specializes in transitioning scientific software applications from research environments into operational systems. We work closely with NOAA and other agencies to ensure satellite product algorithms meet stringent operational standards. Our mission is to support the full lifecycle of scientific software transition, from requirement development to deployment, all while maintaining compliance, quality, and collaboration across diverse technical teams.

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and proactive Process Quality Assurance Specialist to support scientific software development and transition activities. This remote role plays a critical part in ensuring the successful integration of scientific algorithms into operational environments, supporting stakeholders across the lifecycle of complex technical projects.

• Elicit and document requirements for implementing scientific algorithm packages in operational settings.
• Ensure full traceability of product and process requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
• Facilitate technical coordination with stakeholders during transition-to-operations phases.
• Align tasks and transition activities with project schedules and milestones.
• Identify potential gaps, coordinate mitigation strategies, and manage cross-team collaboration.
• Track and report on project risks and develop actionable mitigation plans.
• Prepare and deliver lifecycle review materials, technical presentations, and progress reports.
• Ensure adherence to established quality assurance procedures and industry standards.
• Support Agile-based software development processes and contribute to continuous improvement.

• Minimum 2 years of experience in scientific research, data analysis, or software integration for scientific applications.
• Demonstrated ability to understand and extract requirements from complex science algorithms.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with a high level of attention to detail.
• Experience working within large, multi-disciplinary organizations such as NOAA.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating complex technical topics.
• Quick learner with the ability to acquire knowledge in scientific domains, particularly remote sensing.
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain a security clearance.

• Familiarity with scientific data formats and remote sensing standards.
• Experience with scripting languages, especially Python.
• Knowledge of software configuration management tools.
• Experience working within Agile development environments.
• Basic understanding of Dev Ops and CI/CD practices.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Physics, Mathematics, Atmospheric Science, Remote Sensing, or a related technical field.
