The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division (JOID) provides expert support to a range of customers across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. The Acquisition and Technology Analysis Group within JOID supports multiple clients within the DoD, including OUSD(R&E), OUSD(A&S), DARPA, the Joint Staff, and USINDOPACOM. We offer critical decision support to ensure U.S. military superiority through innovative analysis and assessments.
SPA has a near-term need for a Commercial Strategy Analyst to support DARPA's Commercial Strategy team onsite in Arlington, VA.
Responsibilities
DARPA’s Commercial Strategy Team applies an end-to-end approach to commercializing impactful technologies. The candidate will work with DARPA’s top performers, researchers, entrepreneurs, investors, and DoD and government partners to accelerate DARPA technologies for national security and economic benefit. Responsibilities include providing commercial analytic support, developing business and financial models, engaging with stakeholders, coordinating briefings, and tracking activities.
Required Qualifications
- Active Secret clearance
- Bachelor’s degree
- 4+ years of relevant experience in investment, startups, or DoD transition support
- Expertise in financial and business modeling for the investment community
- Experience with DoD critical technology areas and global markets
- Knowledge of financial transactions, deal structures, and market dynamics
- Experience developing financial models and presenting strategies to executives
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Ability to travel up to 25%
- Willingness to work onsite based on client needs
Desired Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI clearance
- Graduate degree (MBA preferred)
- Knowledge of DoD processes and startup ecosystems
- Experience with dual-use technologies and global markets
