Overview
Position Title:
Unit Secretary. Openings!
The Unit Secretary (US) is responsible for performing a variety of receptionist and clerical duties related to updating and organizing information and supplies on the nursing units, coordinating work within the unit as well as with other units and departments, reporting pertinent information to the immediate supervisor, responding to inquiries and requests from staff, patients, and visitors, and supporting patient care delivery.
This role has front line responsibility for handling customer service interactions through telephone and personal contact and for facilitating unit efficiency. Where appropriate, this employee will answer phones, schedule appointments, call physician offices as requested, and accurately provide information to affiliated providers. This position has no responsibility for the assessment, treatment or care of patients; however, the ability to communicate and interact with patients/public/staff of all ages is required.
- Perform receptionist and clerical duties related to updating and organizing information and supplies on nursing units.
- Coordinate work within the unit and with other units and departments.
- Report pertinent information to the immediate supervisor and respond to inquiries from staff, patients, and visitors.
- Support patient care delivery through effective communication and administrative assistance.
- Handle customer service interactions via telephone and in person.
- Answer phones, schedule appointments, and call physician offices as requested.
- Provide information to affiliated providers accurately and professionally.
High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Experience- Computer experience is required.
- Secretarial experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
