We are looking for a Decon and Media Technician (Part Time) in Arlington, TX. Your mission will be to:
- Execute daily autoclave cycles for sterilization of new media and the decontamination of biohazardous waste.
- Scale up the preparation of media and broths for pathogen testing, ensuring all batches meet quality and sterility standards.
- Pour agar into plates or tubes to begin the growth process.
- Prepare samples for analysis by recording, weighing, and blending.
- Identify plates with client and sample numbers for traceability.
- Pipette sample solutions into tubes or plates according to the analysis process.
- Collect plates and place them in the incubator for the specified time and temperature.
- Prepare media and broth for use in pathogen testing as required.
- Ensure media and materials are prepared for the next testing sequence.
- Maintain knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) required to complete job responsibilities.
- Set up equipment and materials needed for analysis.
- Read plates and tubes to determine the number of organisms in the sample.
- Support corporate quality and continuous improvement processes.
- Perform necessary housekeeping duties, keeping work areas and equipment clean and sanitized.
- Participate in cleaning schedule and maintain retain samples as required.
- Adhere to all safety policies.
- Support laboratory management in the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the management system.
- Perform other related tasks as needed; behave and operate in an ethical and Code of Conduct compliant manner.
Profile requires:
Associates degree or equivalent work experience and 1+ year relevant work experience. Basic knowledge of science to perform testing procedures and obtain accurate results. Basic knowledge of personal computers to enter testing data. Basic knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and policies. Planning skills to maintain supplies of analysis materials and ensure analysis is completed within time.
- Time management skills; ability to prioritize samples and tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail.
- Analytical skills to complete analysis procedures and determine the concentration of microorganisms.
- General knowledge of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to process client data.
- Physical dexterity for manipulating samples.
The incumbent works in a laboratory setting with proper lighting and temperature control. Occasional exposure to fumes, chemicals, and materials may occur. Safety equipment such as gloves, lab coat, and safety glasses may be worn depending on the testing process. The autoclave may be used daily. Continued lifting of materials up to 50 pounds may be necessary. Extended standing is expected.
Ability to detect slight variations in color shades is helpful.

Pay: $17 - $18.50/hr
Schedule: Sunday - Thursday, 25 hrs per week
