Licensed Clinical Therapist (PRN) – VHC Health

Purpose & Scope

A licensed Clinical Therapist will provide counseling services to patients individually and/or in a group setting, utilizing clinical counseling principles to help clients achieve their goals as outlined in their treatment plans, promoting sobriety and overall wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and analyze emotional conditions, explore solutions, and develop treatment plans for mental, emotional adjustment, or substance use disorders.
• Diagnose and treat mental and emotional disorders within VA regulations.
• Provide supervision for students and trainee counselors within scope of practice.
• Participate in discharge planning, arrange follow‑up care, and collaborate with external partners.
• Ensure the provision of a robust therapeutic activities program aligned with patient treatment plans.

Education & Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field.
• Two years of behavioral health experience.
• Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner (LSATP), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) by the VA Department of Health Professions.
• Knowledge of ASAM standards, community resources, evidence‑based techniques, intake procedures, and VA regulations.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with peers, physicians, clients, and community partners.
• Ability to monitor and evaluate quality of social services furnished.
