We are seeking a full-time Occupational Therapist to work in our pediatric therapy clinic located in Arlington, VA.

Qualifications:

  • Masterful Degree: A degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution, advanced experience a plus but not required.
  • License to Heal: VA licensure (or eligibility) to practice your heroic craft. Please note that DC license is also needed or eligibility to obtain.
  • Experience: Experience in pediatric occupational therapy is heroic. We are seeking heroes with at least 2 years experience due to limited supervision and mentoring.

  • Availability to Work with Our Squad: A minimum of 4 hours is required and can be done mornings or afternoons.
  • Availability to Work with Our Squad: A minimum of 12–20 hours a week is preferred for an hourly clinician BUT we are also looking for individuals seeking a full-time position. Full time is composed of 30–40 hours a week in 5-hour “blocks.”

Responsibilities:

  • Provide client-based treatment.
  • Provide ongoing parent/family/teacher education
  • Plan and adjust individual treatment programs based on client needs.
  • Administer pediatric standardized assessments.

Duties require:

  • Extensive standing and walking.
  • Lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients.
  • Frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.

Skills:

  • Experience with utilizing and promoting developmentally appropriate skills in areas of fine/visual motor, feeding, self-help, social-emotional development, and sensory processing and self regulation.
  • Ability to engage children in activities to reduce behaviors that may interfere with learning and cognitive functioning.
  • Knowledgeable of evidence-based practices found to benefit children
  • Experience and ability to work independently, using critical thinking skills and processes to arrive at objective, results-oriented decisions within the context of patient care and organizational priorities.
  • Strengths with demonstrating good judgment, decision-making, and communication skills with a variety of individuals and groups.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Clinician should demonstrate good working knowledge in all applicable computer programs (Microsoft Office) and use of iPad.

Experience with the following diagnoses/areas is a plus (not required):

  • Feeding difficulties / oral motor delays
  • Sensory processing and motor planning difficulties
  • Global developmental delays
  • Neuromuscular impairments
  • Genetic disorders
  • Learning disabilities
  • Autism
  • ADHD & self-regulation challenges
  • Executive functioning weaknesses
  • Visual motor and perceptual deficits
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Down Syndrome
