Medical Assistant/ Licensed Practical Nurse, Wound Care at VHC Health

The Medical Assistant ensures the clinical environment is cleaned, stocked, and ready for patient care. Performs phlebotomy, prepares specimens for transport to labs, performs simple laboratory procedures, takes vital signs, prepares patients for procedures, and assists with patient flow. Provides general clinical support to physicians and other staff, answers phones, makes appointments, collects co-pays and payments, assists with billing, and adds information to the electronic medical record.

• Maintain a clean, stocked clinical environment ready for patient care
• Perform phlebotomy and prepare specimens for lab transport
• Perform simple laboratory procedures
• Take vital signs and prepare patients for procedures
• Assist with patient flow and clinical support to physicians and staff
• Answer phones, schedule appointments, collect co-pays/payments, and assist with billing
• Add information to the electronic medical record

• Education:
  
  High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduation from a medical assisting degree/program preferred.
• Experience:
  
  Six months of healthcare experience required. One year of healthcare/medical primary care/office experience preferred. One year of medical terminology experience required.
• Knowledge:
  Knowledge of the Bloodborne Pathogen Standard required. Experience in clinical pharmacology required.
• Certification/Licensure:
  Medical Assistant Certification or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) preferred. BLS certification is required.
