RESPONSIBILITIES- Health Policy Expertise and Public Affairs Strategy: Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the U.S. health policy landscape to craft and execute comprehensive public affairs and strategic communication strategies. These strategies, aligned with client objectives in the health care sector, will encompass elements like stakeholder engagement, grassroots initiatives and direct lobbying, all designed to drive positive policy change and improve people's lives.
This approach ensures a holistic and proactive advancement of client interests in public affairs and communications. - Advocacy Campaigns
:
Work cross‑functionally with communications and digital colleagues to develop and execute advocacy strategies designed to advance clients’ legislative and regulatory priorities. - Relationship Building
:
Proactively develop and nurture impactful relationships with key Congressional offices, relevant federal regulatory agencies, industry coalitions, and other stakeholders to enhance our clients' influence and reputation. - Policy Analysis: Stay abreast of legislative and regulatory developments in health care, providing timely analysis to clients and internal teams to inform strategic decision‑making.
- Client Relationship Management
:
Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing strategic counsel on government affairs and strategic communications, and ensuring their objectives are met. - Team Leadership
:
Manage and mentor a team of government affairs and communications professionals, fostering a collaborative and high‑performing work environment. Contribute to team trainings as needed and participate in team‑building activities that support the overall CURA culture. - Collaboration
:
Work cross‑functionally with communications and digital colleagues to ensure we’re delivering integrated approaches to our clients. - Business Development: Support new business by identifying opportunities and working with the leadership team to develop proposals. Contribute to ongoing CURA marketing efforts.
- Bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, communications or a related field. Advanced degree preferred
- 9+ years public affairs experience, including legislative health policy experience
- Must have Hill experience
- Experience working in a consulting firm (i.e., PR agency, government affairs firm) preferred
- Must have knowledge and understanding of the legislative and regulatory process
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing teams and complex projects with a proactive, innovative and positive attitude toward client service
- Experience with and enthusiasm for building and cultivating key policy and stakeholder relationships to help achieve clients’ advocacy goals
- Must have familiarity with digital advocacy tools and social media engagement
- Must have excellent writing and organizational skills and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment
