Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary lead and point of contact for the annual external audit, including planning, coordination, and execution.
- Prepare and review audit schedules, work papers, and supporting documentation; respond to auditor inquiries in a timely and thorough manner.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards (FASB/ASC 958), and applicable federal, state, and donor requirements.
- Coordinate preparation of required filings such as IRS Form 990 in collaboration with external advisors.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Oversee accounting for restricted and unrestricted funds, grants, and program revenues.
- Perform variance and trend analysis and provide insights to finance leadership.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and audit readiness.
- Ensure proper documentation and record retention in accordance with organizational policies.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff; review work for accuracy and completeness.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with program, development, and operations teams to support financial reporting and audit needs.
- Support leadership, Finance Committee, and Audit Committee with financial materials and audit updates as needed.
- CPA.
- 8+ years of overall experience.
- Must have led audits previously.
- Nonprofit experience.
- Experience leading a team of 3+ employees.
- Be able to troubleshoot reports that are coming out of ERP.
- Excel experience (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Formulas).
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably, in good faith, believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Pay is not considered compensation until it is earned, vested and determinable. The amount and availability of any compensation remains in Kforce's sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified in its discretion consistent with the law. This job is not eligible for bonuses, incentives or commissions.
