What this job involves:
This position serves a single client as a member of a large, global sustainability team, reporting to the America's sustainability team lead to drive development and execution of energy, water, and waste management programs. You will develop waste management strategies for a portfolio of sites while piloting future-focused waste programs including hard-to-recycle solutions, innovative sorting initiatives, and zero waste site programs.
This role contributes to JLL's business objectives by managing data collection and reporting within JLL's technology platform, acting as subject matter expert on sustainability topics, and driving operational improvements that enhance client satisfaction and environmental performance across extensive real estate portfolios.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Develop and execute waste management strategies for portfolio of sites while developing and piloting future-focused waste programs for regional execution
Collaborate with F&B teams on food waste reduction programs, upstream waste reduction initiatives, and durable goods programs
Develop and maintain central data tools and forecasting capabilities in partnership with data teams while managing visual waste audit process
Manage energy, waste, and water data collection within JLL's technology platform and produce tailored monthly and quarterly reports
Act as subject matter expert to educate and guide key stakeholders on waste, energy, and sustainability topics
Engage with JLL facility managers as key point of contact for environmental sustainability guidance and collaborate with energy managers
Drive operational improvements through identification and implementation of sustainability performance opportunities across real estate portfolios.
Required Qualifications:
University degree in Science, engineering, math, or related fields
5-10 years of experience in Energy/Sustainability field with progressively increasing responsibilities
Strong experience in waste management program development, waste auditing, and landfill diversion strategies
Experience developing data tools, dashboards, and forecasting models for waste and sustainability metrics
Specialized technical understanding of HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and building automation systems and their sustainability impact
Advanced understanding of energy and water conservation measures with strong corporate portfolio analysis ability
Advanced understanding of Greenhouse Gas Emission scopes and reporting with energy procurement and renewable energy knowledge
Ability to communicate difficult concepts and negotiate with others while leading technical support teams strategically.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience developing and implementing zero waste programs or certifications
Knowledge of hard-to-recycle materials management and circular economy principles
Experience working with F&B operations on food waste reduction and upstream waste prevention
Experience conducting site walkthroughs to find conservation measures including ASHRAE Level 1 and 2
Strong project management skills with ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in high-pressure environments
Experience in preparation of tenders and work orders with ability to select appropriate equipment and service vendors
Specialized knowledge of environmental reporting, utility management, energy budgets, and ISO 14001 compliance.
