Senior Civil Engineer Job Description

The Senior Civil Engineer will play a crucial role in planning, designing, and obtaining permits for civil engineering, land development, and infrastructure projects. You will work on site/civil engineering design for a variety of projects including mixed-use developments, shopping centers, residential areas, higher education institutions, and federal projects in a dynamic learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and modification of engineering documents, including reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, and cost estimates using engineering and design software such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

• Design and oversee site layout, grading, drainage, infrastructure, erosion, and sediment control from concept through completion.

• Conduct stormwater management design, hydrologic/hydraulic analysis, and SWPPP preparation.

• Demonstrate experience in land development engineering, integrating geotechnical and environmental engineering.

• Perform other duties as requested.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in stormwater management design, drainage design, site grading, sediment control, erosion control, and site planning.

• Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

• 2-6+ years of professional civil engineering experience in site/civil design, including land development, stormwater management, site grading, and erosion & sediment control.

• EIT (Engineer-in-Training) Certification. PE License is preferred.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Local and related civil engineering experience in land development projects.

• Technical and proposal writing experience.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Familiarity with current local, state, and federal land use permitting is a plus.

This is a Permanent position based out of Arlington, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $72000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
