Construction Manager

Overview

Construction Manager I s role involves coordinating and monitoring field construction administration activities and management engineering services on diverse projects to ensure construction is completed in accordance with drawings and specifications, within budget, and on schedule. Typical project scope includes up to $50M in construction value and participation in mini-mega project pursuits.

This opportunity entails being responsible for coordination and monitoring of overall field construction administration activities and/or management engineering services on projects of a diverse nature in accordance with design specifications to assure that construction projects are completed in compliance with the drawings and specifications, within budget, and on schedule.

• Develop project scope and fee quotation; assist in preparing technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).
• Coordinate project activities, establish priorities and staffing; prepare Summary Inspection Reports; monitor contractor progress against the schedule; resolve technical field issues; coordinate with Architects and Engineers for timely RFIs.
• Oversee project controls, including contractor controls and schedule coordination; review contractor schedules.
• Review submittals for conformance to plans and specifications; develop strategies with the contractor for submittal packages that meet schedule requirements.
• Implement the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA); lead development and execution of the project management plan; supervise and mentor the team; identify and resolve non-compliant work.
• Provide interpretation and enforcement of contract plans and specifications; develop strategies with the contractor for submittal packages that conform to schedule requirements.
• Confirm and process change order requests; develop estimates; negotiate costs and write change orders.
• Provide cost control and quality control within the discipline.
• Partner with Client Service Leaders and pursuit teams to assist with business development, client relationships, and pursuit efforts for strategic and mini-mega projects, following HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA); support proposal development and presentations.
• May recruit, hire, develop, and retain construction staff and contribute to staff planning, performance reviews, and succession planning.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a relevant field and 8 years of relevant experience, or
• In lieu of education, 12 years of relevant experience.

• Experience delivering projects on time and on budget with quality client satisfaction; identify and escalate risk and change management issues under guidance.
• Ability to use system tools to manage smaller projects or task orders.
• Support implementation of HNTB processes on projects and interface with client-level peers on smaller projects.
• Provide technical guidance to team members and contribute to portions of the technical work.

• 9 years of relevant experience; or 13 years in lieu of education.
• Professional Engineer (PE), American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or NICET Level III.
