Summer School ESY SPSA Instructional Assistant

July 1, 2, and 3 (3rd is ½ day only)

Model: IN-PERSON SPSA Secondary Program for Students with Autism
Responsibilities- Assist an individual student as a 1:1 or groups of students with classroom activities and IEP goals under the guidance and direction of a teacher or assignment given by the Office of Special Education.
- Assist with classroom and behavior management plans under teacher guidance and direction.
- Collaborate with school staff, related service providers, student services staff, and families.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by teacher, site‑administrator, or coordinator.
- Experience working with children from diverse backgrounds.
- One year working with students who have disabilities.
- Graduation from high school or equivalent education; and 60 college credits from a regionally accredited college/university; or qualifying score on the Para Pro (455 or better).
- Reliable, dependable, flexible, and punctual.
- Flexible and willing to work as a team.
- Knowledge of the needs of students with disabilities.
- Ability to take initiative appropriately.

- Summer School Assistants who are APS employees during the year will be paid—Hourly rate or $16.68/hr., whichever is higher. (Please note Salary earned relative to summer school employment will not be included in the employee’s creditable compensation amount reported to the Virginia Retirement System (VRS).)
- Retired APS Assistants will be paid $25.68 per hour.
- Non‑APS Assistants will be paid $16.68 per hour.
