The Westin Arlington Gateway is located two blocks from the Ballston Metro Station, offering access to Washington, D.C. See historic monuments, visit Georgetown, and enjoy nearby activities. The hotel features 338 modern guestrooms (including 14 suites) with modern amenities.

Responsibilities
  • Support the overall operation of the Human Resources Department in daily administrative functions. Assist the Director of Human Resources with responsibilities including new hire administration, employee relations, training and communications with hotel departments and Highgate corporate offices.
  • Support the employment process including applicant screening, determining eligibility for employment, conducting reference checks and verifying paperwork for accuracy.
  • Refer potential new-hires to department managers for interviews when appropriate.
  • Assist with department outgoing correspondence and memorandums as needed.
  • Maintain all logs (new hire, termination, transfers, department meetings, turnover reports) daily and prepare reports timely and accurately.
  • Assist with benefit administration including group health insurance, vacation, sick leave, personal leave, leave of absence, jury duty pay, and retirement plan. Ensure policies are followed and forms are accurate and submitted timely.
  • Coordinate all other new hire pre-employment steps, including drug testing; reference checks, etc., to ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Respond to interviewed applicants via telephone or letter within required time frame.
  • Assist with completion of paperwork for new hires, terminations, payroll actions, and employee status changes daily and accurately.
  • Assist with New Hire Orientation: administer overview of benefits to new associates and explain benefits; assist with enrollment and claims processing.
  • Present overview of Highgate Handbook with knowledge of all policies and procedures.
  • Notify managers of monthly reviews, prepare payroll action forms and track reviews to ensure timely completion.
  • Assist the HR department in maintaining accurate employee records.
  • Assist with OSHA, Workers’ Compensation, and Unemployment Claims responsibilities for the hotel.
  • Assist with HR reception area duties: greeting associates, managers and potential new hires; direct to appropriate manager if necessary.
  • Assist in the production of an Employee newsletter.
  • Maintain associate files and ensure filing is completed weekly.
  • Assist with Associate Employee Relations Events.
  • Ensure compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act for all employees.
  • Maintain inventory of office and benefit supplies; complete purchase orders to replenish.
  • Keep employee bulletin boards current and post memos, pictures of employee events, and loss prevention materials.
  • Distribute paychecks as needed and collect completed signature pages from each department.
  • Assist with other special hotel projects as needed.
  • Assist with administration and management of hotel programs such as MOD, Lobby Ambassador, and Zone management; ensure timely follow-up and communication on all facets from scheduling to reporting and execution.
  • Assist other departments as needed when guest influx dictates.
  • Support upward, timely communication to Highgate corporate offices and senior leadership, and ensure compliance with daily, weekly and monthly deliverables.
  • Assist with weekly coordination of Gold Passport Reception and assist with invite printing for in-house VIPs.
