Senior Technical Accountant

Our client is a well-known, mission-driven organization with a national footprint and a large, sophisticated accounting function. The position was intentionally scoped as a Senior Accountant role, offering strong technical exposure and collaboration with financial reporting and audit teams. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded accountant - particularly someone with public accounting experience - who enjoys research, documentation, and applying accounting guidance to complex transactions.

• Develop and maintain a deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and relevant ASC guidance
• Interpret and apply new accounting standards, ensuring accurate and compliant financial reporting
• Draft and maintain technical accounting memos and accounting policies
• Analyze contracts, transactions, and new initiatives to determine appropriate accounting treatment
• Partner closely with the Financial Reporting team during monthly close, audits, and reporting cycles
• Prepare journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and support monthly and year-end close processes
• Collaborate with accounting leadership and external auditors to support an efficient audit process
• Research and respond to complex accounting and financial questions with clear, well-documented conclusions
• Communicate accounting impacts and financial results clearly to both accounting and non-accounting stakeholders
• Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and controls
• Gain a strong understanding of general ledger activity and its financial reporting implications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
• 4+ years of accounting experience, including public accounting and/or audit background
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including U.S. GAAP and ASC guidance
• Experience with ASC 606, ASC 842, and ASC 820 strongly preferred
• Proven ability to draft clear, well-structured technical accounting memos
• Detail-oriented, analytical, and collaborative mindset
• Comfort working in a large, fast-paced accounting environment
• CPA preferred (or actively pursuing)
• Open to candidates coming directly from public accounting

• Exposure to Sage Intacct, Concur, Blackline, or similar financial systems
• Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau
• Strong research skills and the ability to explain complex accounting topics to diverse audiences
