Job description summary:
The Tennis Shop Attendant supports the tennis experience for members and guests by promoting the game and the club’s offerings. Responsibilities include delivering excellent customer service, assisting with merchandise selections, and keeping the shop stocked with tennis gear and apparel. You will also help manage inventory, place merchandise orders, and support overall tennis shop operations.
- Provide efficient and friendly customer service in the pro shop; process transactions at the register and check in tennis players prior to play. Adhere to cash handling procedures and maintain operational standards.
- Respond to inquiries about lessons and court reservations, in person or by phone; engage with members and guests professionally and courteously.
- Assist members and guests with changes and last‑minute requests while maintaining professionalism.
- Keep the tennis shop organized and clean; assist with merchandising and oversee tennis operations to ensure optimal performance.
- Perform closing duties according to club guidelines and procedures.
- Maintain orderly work areas, manage entry areas, and clean up debris as needed.
- Assist with inventory controls by checking in merchandise, organizing storage/display areas, and maintaining stock levels of frequently stocked items; follow up on special orders.
- Handle returns and issue proper credits; process daily invoices with accurate coding for timely payment.
- Maintain accurate tennis member information and related databases.
- Actively promote tennis and club offerings while upholding a high level of professionalism and service.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a customer‑facing role, preferably in retail or a sports environment, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Familiarity with tennis equipment, apparel, and accessories.
- Experience in sales or retail operations, including merchandising, inventory management, and point‑of‑sale systems.
- Ability to manage inventory, place orders, and maintain a well‑organized shop.
- Frequent standing, walking, and light lifting; ability to lift up to 100 lbs on occasion.
- Occasional exposure to temperature changes, dust, fumes, or gases.
- Ability to bend, reach, and perform other physical tasks as needed.
- Adherence to the weekly schedule with flexibility for additional hours, weekends, and holidays as required.
