Job Summary
As a Cook 3, you lead food preparation, production, and presentation in the kitchen. You set up and organize your workstation, uphold high standards of food quality and consistency, and ensure cleanliness and sanitation of your area. You will supervise and mentor Cook 1 and Cook 2 team members, support efficient kitchen operations, handle complex cooking tasks, and collaborate with the kitchen leadership to maintain exceptional culinary standards.
This senior position requires advanced culinary skills, leadership, and the ability to manage high-stress, high-volume kitchen environments.
- Reports to the Kitchen Manager, Sous Chef or Executive Chef
- Set up, execute daily prep, and organize your workstation
- Prepare and store all food items for your station per Invited standards
- Maintain proper cooking techniques and consistent preparation and presentation of daily specials, salads, entrees, and other menu items
- Prepare or assist in preparing complete meals (soups, meats, gravies, vegetables, desserts, salads, baked goods)
- Receive and store goods for the kitchen
- Manage items used by others (condiments, dressings, salsas, soups)
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the work area and kitchen, including equipment and waste areas
- Assist in cleaning kitchen areas, equipment maintenance, and inventory control
- Communicate with the Executive Chef or Sous Chef regarding product needs or issues with food quality or presentation
- Assist in menu planning, recipe development, and testing products
- May assist in preparing meals tailored to dietary needs or restrictions
- May be required to prepare meals for small groups or special events
- May take charge of a shift in the absence of the Sous Chef
- Assist in supervising and instructing Cooks and other team members
- Check supplies and groceries received in the work area
- Oversee expediting during all meal periods to ensure timely delivery with proper quality, portioning, and presentation
- Contribute to recipe creation and modification; participate in menu planning and meetings
- Interact professionally with members and guests, accommodating changes and last-minute requests
- Support teammates and contribute to a positive team environment; deliver the 3 steps of service
- Address and resolve member and guest complaints professionally and assist with service recovery
- Complete additional duties as assigned by management
- Assist others as needed and take on additional tasks as assigned by management
- Follow all company, club, and department policies and procedures
- Maintain professionalism and excellence in interactions with members, colleagues, and staff
- Follow safe working practices and safety guidelines
- Take initiative in personal and professional growth and maintain required certifications
- Address challenges using available resources with regional and corporate teams
- Attend daily briefings and stay informed and engaged
- Wear a clean, neat uniform that meets club standards
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a kitchen environment
- Valid Food Handler Certifications as required by state and city regulations
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions
- Stand, walk, and perform physical activities for extended periods
- Work in varying temperatures and environments with potential exposure to dust, fumes, or gases
- Capable of climbing ladders, squatting, kneeling, reaching, grasping, twisting, bending, and lifting up to 100 lbs occasionally
- Effective communication skills and adequate visual acuity
- Kitchen knives (1-5 lbs); pots, pans, and other food storage containers
- Attendance as outlined on the weekly schedule
- Additional hours may be required, including weekends and/or holidays
