Position: Registered Nurse (RN) Lactation Consultant - Full-Time Days

Registered Nurse (RN II) - Lactation Consultant - Full-Time Day Shift

Texas Health Arlington Memorial,800 West Randol Mill Rd. Arlington, TX 76012

Work hours:

Full-Time (36 Hours) - Day Shift
-4/8 hour shifts from 6:45am - 4:15pm

Department highlights:
  • 14 bed Obstetrics / Gynecology / Antepartum Unit
  • 12 bed Mother/Baby and Maternal/Newborn Unit
  • 9 bed LDR, 3 OR suites, 4 bed OB ED unit with an average of 200 deliveries a month
  • Level II NICU
  • Couplet care and Level III Maternal Designation
  • Self-Scheduling
  • OB Hospitalist onsite 24 hours
  • Certification rate over 50%
  • Nursing Clinical Ladder participation rate over 50%
  • Excellent teamwork
Here’s What You Need
  • Associate's Degree Nursing required; BSN preferred
  • RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire required
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
  • NRP - Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 days of hire required
  • IBCLC - Lactation Consultant 2 years required
  • 1 Year experience as a Registered Nurse or completion of an RN residency program, or a THR residency program required
What You Will Do

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process

  • Functions as an expert resource on breastfeeding issues for patients, families, community, staff, and physicians.
  • Plans the care of the patient
  • Intervenes as appropriate
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
