Electronics Technician, Test Engineer
Job Summary
The Test Technician is responsible for supporting the testing and validation of electronic products and systems to ensure functionality, reliability, and compliance with quality standards. This role performs functional and environmental testing, troubleshoots product issues, and collaborates with engineering and quality teams to support manufacturing operations in a fast‑paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform functional, environmental, and stress testing on electronic components and assemblies (e.g., PCBs, semiconductors, or finished electronic products).
- Set up and calibrate test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, and automated test systems.
- Conduct testing according to standard operating procedures (SOPs), engineering drawings, and customer requirements.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to defective components, faulty connections, or incorrect configurations.
- Document test results, issues, and resolutions in a clear and accurate manner.
- Assist in developing and improving test procedures and methodologies to enhance testing accuracy and efficiency.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve product issues and improve testing processes.
- Perform automated testing using LabVIEW, Python, or other scripting tools where applicable.
- Maintain testing equipment and inventory, ensuring tools are properly calibrated and in good working condition.
- Associate’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Test Technician in electronics manufacturing or a related field
. - Strong knowledge of electronic components, circuits, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Proficiency using electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, multimeters, and power supplies.
- Familiarity with automated testing tools or scripting languages such as LabVIEW, Python, or Test Stand
. - Understanding of quality standards including IPC‑A‑610, J‑STD‑001, and ESD handling procedures
. - Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong communication skills for reporting test results and collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
- Experience working in electronics manufacturing or high‑volume production environments.
- Experience supporting automated test systems or manufacturing test stations.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail and testing accuracy.
- Ability to follow technical procedures and testing protocols.
- Effective communication and teamwork.
- Continuous improvement mindset.
Physical Requirements
Work is performed in an electronics assembly and testing environment. The role may require standing for extended periods and handling small electronic components. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ESD protection may be required when working in designated production areas.
