Job DescriptionPosition Summary: This position is primarily responsible for the performance of first article, in-process and final inspection of machined parts production hardware. The incumbent must have practical experience and working knowledge of quality assurance concepts, inspection methods, and techniques. With minimal supervision, level one CMM inspectors read engineering drawings and interpret GD&T per ASME 14.5 standards, perform complex set-ups and operation of CMM scanners, and communicate dimensional conformance to production staff.
CMM inspectors may also perform mechanical inspections as required.
Primary
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Understand, adhere, and demonstrate the company’s commitment to QUALITY and SAFETY.
- Inspect detailed machined parts and/or assemblies for conformity to design parameters using drawings and specifications; indicate acceptance or rejection on production documentation.
- Perform monitoring and measuring device calibrations as assigned.
- Perform part setups and conduct CMM and laser tracker inspection of parts.
- Interpret CMM and laser tracker data results and maintain knowledge of PC DMIS CMM inspection software.
- Complete final inspection and AS9102 first article inspection sheets as required.
- Maintain knowledge of quality assurance procedures as they apply to inspection and manufacturing operations.
- Document nonconforming product as required by internal and/or customer requirements.
- Ensure tooling used as media of acceptance remains calibrated according to requirements.
- Ensure product/material conformity documentation from subcontractors satisfies engineering specifications.
- Ensure correct material handling, identification and traceability of product throughout the manufacturing sequence.
- Perform all functions of a Quality Control Inspector as needed by workload and schedule.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance according to shift-times or schedule.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and Laser tracker preferred.
- Experience in machining shop with aluminum alloys, steel and titanium is strongly desired.
- Knowledge and proficiency with basic inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
- Knowledge of OSHA-compliant shop safety practices preferred.
- Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, Word) preferred.
- Ability to interpret drawings, blueprints, and GD&T.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- PC DMIS or comparable software knowledge.
Experience &
Education:
- 2-5 years of experience in inspection.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Physical Demands &
Working Conditions:
- May be required to move items up to 35 pounds.
- Daily duties may include sitting, standing, bending, squatting, reaching, pushing, pulling, operating and manipulating hand tools; extended walking.
- Exposure to a manufacturing setting with heavy machinery.
