PRIMARY PURPOSE
Follow routine cleaning procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of assigned facilities and the surrounding grounds. Duties vary frequently and are appointed by the Custodial Foreman. The Custodial Foreman assigns all cleaning tasks, scheduling, direction, supervision, inspections, and performance evaluations of the head, assistant, and custodial staff.
QUALIFICATIONS- High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in custodial services preferred
- Basic understanding and verbalization of the English language
- Follow established AISD safety procedures
- Abide by all AISD Board policies as well as procedures outlined in the Auxiliary Employee Handbook
- Assume responsibility for daily directives as given by the Custodial Foreman, Operations Supervisor, or Director of Operations
- Serve as custodial team lead in assigned facility as designated by the Custodial Foreman
- Read and understand instructions for cleaning and safety procedures
- Follow established procedures for cleaning buildings, floors, chalk / marker boards, waste baskets, windows, furniture, equipment and restrooms
- Keep all district facilities and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and playground areas, neat and clean
- Keep custodial closet neat, clean, safe, and organized
- Ensure that equipment and supplies are used and maintained properly
- Accept instructions on the proper use of equipment and cleaning materials
- Operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy items and / or equipment
- Assist with lunchroom set up, including tables and chairs, as well as setting up and breaking down facilities for special events
- Work cooperatively with all District personnel to ensure a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations
- Maintain effective communication and rapport within assigned department and with all other areas of contact
- Assist with opening and closing facility each day
- The position may require overtime, as necessary, to maintain the function of District facilities
- The position will respond to service calls in a timely manner while serving on-call duty, as necessary to maintain the function of District facilities
- Any other duties as may be directed by your immediate supervisor and / or any other supervisor within your line of authority
- Locking and unlocking buildings, setting alarms, changing lights, delivering supplies and equipment, raising and lowering flags, moving furniture, vacuuming, dusting, emptying trash, mopping, dust mopping, sweeping, stripping, waxing, shampooing, buffing and burnishing
- None
- Equipment repair tools, vacuum, high-speed and low-speed buffer, blower, auto-scrubber, carpet extractor, burnisher, walk-behind, stand-on, ride-on equipment, and all other equipment necessary for District use
- Ability to lift and carry 55 or more pounds without assistance; continual moderate lifting and carrying (1-55 pounds)
- Bending or stooping, reaching above shoulder level, working with machinery, driving vehicle and / or equipment, lift-gate, truck bed crane, climbing ladders, stairs, ramps, scaffolds, walking, mopping, sweeping, sitting
- Majority of work indoors; be prepared for all indoor and outdoor weather conditions
- Work shift may be adjusted to meet the needs of the District
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Tools / Equipment Used :
Buffer, stripper, wet and dry vacuum cleaner, shampooer, lawn mower, edger, and weed eater; small hand tools; small power tools - Posture :
