Distribution Field Technician - Great opportunity for Entry Level Engineers
Job Description
Join our team as a Distribution Field Technician, where you will work on joint use projects in various locations, including some Oncor projects. You will handle per diem assignments, out-of-town tasks, and data entry related to construction specifications. You will manage projects for five different utilities, ensuring the efficient operation, inspection, and maintenance of electrical distribution systems.
Responsibilities
+ Conduct system inventories and audits.
+ Manage and permit joint use projects.
+ Perform sub-surface and pad-mount inspections.
+ Carry out ground-line pole inspections.
+ Provide metering and apparatus services.
+ Execute lighting audits.
+ Collect field data using a laptop, tablet, GPS, and other electronic devices for database input.
+ Develop knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and electric utility construction standards.
+ Operate equipment to measure utility poles and mid-span facilities, and perform pole and pad-mount inspections.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in computer skills and field data collection.
+
Experience with aerial utility work.
+ Strong communication skills and experience in aerial construction.
+ Ability to identify project needs early on.
+ Familiarity with software tools such as SPIDAcalc and Katapult, with future use of ikeGPS.
+ Understanding of data collection processes using roughbooks/tablets, GPS, and NESC standards.
+ Knowledge of distribution engineering and aerial construction.
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
+ 0-3 years of experience as a Field Technician with utility experience preferred.
+
Experience with field survey equipment such as range finders, hasting sticks, and GPS units.
+ Familiarity with National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) preferred.
+ Knowledge of MS Office products preferred.
+ Clean and valid driver's license required.
+ Must be at least 18 years of age to drive on company time.
+ Willingness to consent to GPS tracking via company-issued devices.
+ Analytical skills to interact with engineers and distribution system designers.
+ Ability to assist with storm damage assessments for overhead and underground distribution structures and equipment.
Work Environment
This role involves regional travel to utility client territories during the business day, with some overnight travel expected. Candidates will travel to locations such as Kansas, Georgia, Louisiana, and Arkansas, often starting from the DFW area. Work is conducted from Sunday to Friday, with travel on Sundays and Fridays and full workdays from Monday to Thursday. Technicians work in pairs for certain projects, using side-by-side vehicles in rural areas, while some tasks are performed individually.
Vehicles provided are take-home vehicles.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Arlington, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
