We are seeking a highly organized and hands‑on Assistant Controller to support the organization’s financial operations while leading a small accounting team. This role combines team leadership with day‑to‑day accounting execution, ensuring financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and timely reporting in a fast‑paced environment.

The Assistant Controller will oversee core accounting functions, manage the monthly close process, maintain strong internal controls, and support operational finance activities including purchasing, treasury, and reporting. This role works closely with both the accounting team and operational leadership and requires someone comfortable balancing leadership responsibilities with hands‑on accounting work.

This position is fully onsite Monday through Friday.

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of accounting staff, providing coaching, performance feedback, and workflow coordination
• Oversee key accounting operations including account reconciliations, inventory counts, and financial documentation
• Manage the monthly financial close process and coordinate a timely month‑end close
• Review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Maintain strong internal controls and documentation for accounting and financial processes
• Manage purchasing processes including purchase order creation, receipt tracking, and proper financial recording
• Support treasury operations including vendor payment approvals, payroll workflows, and cash flow monitoring
• Manage intercompany accounting and reconciliations with related entities
• Prepare draft financial statements and support sales tax reporting and compliance requirements
• Develop ad‑hoc financial and operational reporting to support leadership decision‑making

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory or team leadership responsibilities
• Strong knowledge of financial close processes, balance sheet reconciliations, and operational accounting
• Experience managing or mentoring accounting staff and coordinating team workflows
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to balance leadership responsibilities with hands‑on accounting work in a fast‑paced environment
• Advanced Excel and financial systems experience preferred; CPA or CPA‑track preferred but not required
