The Occupational Therapist is responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments to evaluate clients’ physical, psychological, and environmental needs. This role focuses on developing and implementing personalized treatment plans to enhance clients’ ability to perform daily activities. The therapist will recommend adaptive equipment, design rehabilitation programs, and collaborate with caregivers to ensure successful outcomes. Continuous professional development and adherence to regulatory standards are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough physical and psychological assessments to determine clients’ therapy needs.
- Evaluate home and work environments to identify opportunities for adaptive support and increased independence.
- Recommend adaptive equipment and train clients and caregivers on proper usage.
- Develop and implement rehabilitation programs focused on restoring daily living and work-related skills.
- Prepare clients for reintegration into work and daily life with goal-specific strategies.
- Educate caregivers and family members on patient care techniques and rehabilitation support.
- Monitor and evaluate therapy outcomes, adjusting treatment plans to maximize progress.
- Stay informed of technical and clinical advancements in occupational therapy practices.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory and certification requirements.
- Address both physical and basic mental health conditions as part of a holistic care plan.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program (ACOTE or AOTA).
- National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification.
- Must meet state-specific healthcare regulatory and licensing requirements.
- Up-to-date knowledge of therapy methodologies and best practices.
- Strong understanding of both physical and behavioral health principles.
- Proficient with digital tools for documentation and patient care coordination.
- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy or related discipline.
- Experience working with diverse populations or in specialized settings (e.g., geriatrics, pediatrics, rehabilitation centers).
- NBCOT Certification (required)
- State licensure (required based on location)
- CPR or First Aid Certification (preferred)
