Overview
Auto Body Technician role at Gerber Collision & Glass.
Responsibilities- Provide an exceptional customer experience through meticulous assessment and quality repair of each vehicle to restore it to pre-accident condition.
- Disassemble, repair, and reassemble vehicles; align with the team to achieve repair facility KPIs and uphold the Brand Ambassador standard for The Boyd Group.
- Plan repair work, prepare cost estimates for customers, and use tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers.
- Hammer out dents, apply filler resins when needed, realign car chassis and frames to repair structural damage.
- Replace damaged sections with new or aftermarket parts; repair or replace glass and windshields; repair interior parts as required.
- Weld or attach parts and prepare/repaint vehicles with factory-specified paint or equivalent.
- Complete work orders within labor time guidelines and inspect vehicles after repair to ensure correct workmanship.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school program completion or a 3-year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer preferred. - Skills:
Ability to read job orders, work with minimal supervision, collaborate with others in an auto body shop, and thoroughly understand repair methods and tool usage. - Other Requirements:
Able to work safely in a noisy environment; able to lift up to 30 pounds; able to inspect vehicle damage in various weather conditions; able to bend, reach, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
