Hourly Pay Range

$33.96 - $52.64 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

What You Will Do

Reporting to the Director of Quality, the RN is responsible for professional communications regarding patient care, and triage (sorting and prioritizing patients) of clinical pool messages such as patient calls, result notes, patient call back, MyChart advice requests. Participates in Rx requests and MyChart Rx requests as needed and supervises Medical Assistants in dealing with prescription refill requests and prior authorizations for medications per protocol.

  • Appropriately triages telephone calls, answers questions and advises patients according to policy and physician orders.
  • Manages patient health concerns and symptoms via telephone interactions using physician-approved protocols for assessment and management of a range of symptoms. Telephone interactions require assessment, patient education and may require crisis intervention.
  • Enters complete notes in the EMR system as needed. As calls are handled professionally and sensitively, the goals are to reduce inappropriately scheduled appointments, decrease anxiety, educate patients, and reduce risk when there are medical complications.
  • Accurately communicates messages, lab values, and telephoned reports in a timely manner.
  • Instructs patients in preparation for home care procedures in accordance with physicians’ instructions and patient education tools.
  • Performs and documents a preliminary patient assessment including objective information, vital signs, weight, and subjective information relative to the visit using approved care protocols and standing orders.
  • Ability to determine urgent issues that require immediate attention (e.g., high fever, chest pain, behavioral health crisis).
What You Will Need
  • Education:

    Diploma in Nursing required;
    Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Nursing or a healthcare-related field with extensive knowledge of medical terminology and disease processes.
  • Certification:
    Professional licensure in the State of Illinois
  • Experience:

    Minimum of three years of experience as an RN required. Minimum one year of telephone triage experience preferred, preferably in a medical practice setting.
