Job Responsibilities
- Drive and operate the bookmobile safely, ensuring smooth and efficient travel to scheduled locations.
- Maintain high standards of customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, assisting with book selections, and other services.
- Ensure the safety of all passengers and visitors while on the bookmobile, following all traffic and safety regulations.
- Create a welcoming environment, fostering strong relationships with community members and encouraging library engagement.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and organizing library materials to ensure the bookmobile is fully stocked and accessible.
- Monitor vehicle operations, perform routine maintenance checks, troubleshoot potential mechanical difficulties, and report any issues.
- Maintain accurate records of stops, circulation data, and customer interactions.
- Participate in promotional and outreach events to raise awareness of the bookmobile and library services.
- Valid class "B" commercial driver's license (CDL), or willing to obtain CDL within 6 months.
- Clean driving record.
- Experience in customer service, with a strong focus on communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building.
- Ability to lift and carry books and materials (up to 30 lbs.).
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work as a team.
- Commitment to maintaining safety, security, and compliance with all vehicle and operational procedures.
- Positive attitude, patience, and a passion for serving the community.
- Knowledge of library services and programs is a bonus
- Bilingual language skills a plus, but not required
- The preferred candidate must also demonstrate ability to work effectively with staff and customers in alignment with Our Culture and IDEA.
High School diploma/GED or equivalent applicable work experience.
Hours and Scheduling:
Full time position 37.5 hours/week. Monday-Friday afternoon/evening shifts and occasional weekend shifts.
