• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program required.
• Current ARRT registration with certification in Radiography and Illinois Emergency Management Agency, Dept of Nuclear Safety accreditation required.
• One year experience as a general radiographer with operating room experience or an NCH student Radiologic Technologist graduate with 3 months experience in surgery/OR required.
• Current CPR certification from American Heart Association required.
• Knowledge of and/or experience in the correct use of body mechanics.
• Demonstrated ability to perform numerous radiographic examinations that are required in the surgical area.
• Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients (who may be anxious or confused) and to interact with surgeons and other hospital staff.
• Analytical ability to determine proper patient positioning and to determine quality of exams performed.
• Communication skills to inform patients regarding examination procedures and discuss procedure requirements with surgeons.
• Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule.
• Ability to use a computer to perform the representative functions and competencies of the job as defined by the Radiology Department.

• Reporting to the Director of Radiology/Imaging with accountability to the manager and under the direction of surgeons and radiologists, performs surgical diagnostic procedures in surgery as needed, and other diagnostic x-ray procedures; trains and supervises students in the Surgery Department area.
• Performs surgical diagnostic procedure examinations, including but not limited to cholangiograms, hip pinning, femoral rodding, retrogrades, pacemaker implants, cystoscopy, bronchoscopy, femoral bypass, etc.
• Performs diagnostic x-ray procedures as assigned. Explains procedures and exams to patients and provides appropriate instructions. Ensures patients are properly prepared and prepped for various procedures prior to surgery. Positions patient for exam and applies immobilization devices as required. Monitors patient condition during procedure and reports changes to the Surgeon. Retrieves medications that are not controlled substances. Utilizes and promotes AIDET concepts for all customer interactions.
• Assists patients from wheelchairs and stretchers onto and off the surgical or diagnostic x-ray tables.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to assess, treat, and care for all age groups of patients; involves family/guardian in plan of care and conducts patient and family education as appropriate.
• Maintains aseptic conditions in the Surgical room and routinely cleans all radiographic equipment in the room.
