The John Hersey High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Science Teacher to join our dynamic team. We are committed to fostering a cooperative, supportive, and respectful environment where students thrive both academically and personally.
Biology/EL Teacher – 1.0 FTE
Specific Qualifications- State of Illinois Professional Educators License (PEL) with Senior HS endorsement in Biology.
- Willingness to teach all levels of science.
- Outstanding training and/or experience as an educator.
- Strong background in science (and if applicable, math) instruction and a standards-driven curriculum. Prefer experience implementing the NGSS and creating an NGSS classroom experience.
- Ability and willingness to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
- Effective collaboration within our Professional Learning Team model, working with teams of teachers to develop creative instructional strategies and resources based on best practices to enable students to exceed building, district, and state goals and standards.
- Proficiency in a wide variety of assessment practices that maximize student learning (formative, summative, selected response, extended written response, performance based).
- Use of a variety of instructional methods and practices to meet individual student needs.
- Provision of multiple and varied opportunities for students to achieve daily objectives.
- Commitment to utilizing research-based instructional strategies for increasing student achievement and striving to become a distinguished educator.
- Establishing and maintaining a professional growth plan.
- Possession and continuous development of technology skills that drive instruction.
- Communication with students and parents regarding student progress.
- Coordinating and sharing instructional lessons with other team members.
- Assisting in implementation of the school-wide improvement plan.
- Completion of administrative duties in a timely fashion.
- Performing other tasks assigned by building administration or designee.
- Supporting building extracurricular activities as a coach or sponsor.
- Attaching a PDF of the IL State Board of Education ELIS credentials screen(s).
- Transcripts.
- Three (3) current letters of recommendation.
