John Hersey High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Technology Education Teacher to join our dynamic team. We are committed to fostering a cooperative, supportive, and respectful environment where students thrive both academically and personally. We are looking for educators who are eager to collaborate, utilize student-centered teaching strategies, and actively participate in professional learning communities.
Our ideal candidate has a strong background in automotive technology and a passion for hands‑on instruction. We are looking for an educator who can manage a safe, professional shop environment while teaching students the technical and problem‑solving skills needed for the industry. You should be eager to collaborate with the CTE team and use modern tools and technology to prepare students for both college and career pathways.
Technology/AutosTeacher – 0.2 FTESpecific
Qualifications:
- Teaching certification must include one of the following:
- State of Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Senior HS endorsement in Technology Education,
- State of Illinois Educator License with Stipulations (ELS) with endorsement in Automobile/Automotive Mechanics Technology/Technician,
- State of Illinois Provisional Career and Technical Educator License with endorsement in Automobile/Automotive Mechanics Technology/Technician
- Specifically, Automotive and IT Networking/Hardware teaching experience and interest is preferred.
- Ability to teach courses at various academic levels.
- It is an expectation that the candidate desires to be an active member in professional organizations related to content area(s) and/or pedagogy.
- Must be willing to work as a contributing member of course‑alike and divisional teams to improve instructional practices and curriculum that benefit student achievement.
- We expect our candidates to be highly proficient leaders who will excel in facilitating interdisciplinary curricular connections building‑wide.
- Preference will be given to candidates willing to work with students outside of the normal school day by participating in activities, athletics, or other school related endeavors.
