Evaluation: Per Support Staff Specific Area

Three (3) years' experience in education or transportation.

Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screening.

CDL Certified.

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Job Description: The Transportation Supervisor shall coordinate all transportation services for Gavin D37 and coordinate all drivers/routes, and bus driver personnel matters.

Essential Functions and Performance Responsibilities: (These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.)

  • Maintain certification to drive a bus in accordance with federal, state and School Board regulations.
  • Supervise a team of bus drivers in day to day operations.
  • Complete bus driver's annual performance reviews.
  • Ensure all bus drivers maintain updated credentials, certifications, physicals and drug test compliance.
  • Ensure the district is in compliance with the FMCSA and Midwest Truckers.
  • Ensure substitute drivers are in place to cover all daily routes when needed.
  • Prepare and update computerized bus schedules for all students in the district and communicate timely to staff and families.
  • Working knowledge and point person for District software to coordinate routes, assign students to buses and for reporting purposes.
  • Maintain documentation and schedules for all charters, including field trips and athletic events.
  • Ensures all bus maintenance is completed, cleaning supplies are available at all times for drivers and buses are ready to go each day.
  • Ensures buses and drivers meet compliance requirements for transportation audits.
  • Communicating the concerns and suggestions of the bus drivers to the school administrator.
  • Acts as liaison with parents to address concerns and special requests.
  • Prepares reports, keeping all records required, mapping bus routes and planning schedules.
  • Review and approve paid time off and time sheets for each pay period.
  • Maintain appropriate vehicle inventory and maintenance records.
  • The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for filling in for drivers when absences and situations occur.
  • Work with CSBO to complete annual Transportation Claims.
  • Create and maintain Transportation Department Policy & Procedures documentation, on-boarding checklist and Bus Driver Handbook.
  • Attend transportation meetings and other meetings as appropriate.
  • Support and enforce policies as established by the school district.
  • Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the CSBO.
