Job Title: Courtesy Clerk

Location: Tyler, Texas

Maintains store conditions according to Company standards. Engages with customers, bags and transports groceries, locates products, and conducts price verifications. Performs various customer service duties while maintaining a safe and sanitary shopping environment.

• Ensures groceries are bagged properly by grouping like items, managing bag weight, preventing cross‑contamination, and ensuring customer receipt of all purchased items.
• Collects and returns shopping carts, keeps the parking lot free of trash and debris, and communicates incidents or concerns to management.
• Maintains front-end racks, drink coolers, and cleaning supply stations; ensures they are stocked, cleaned, and presentable.
• Promotes product sales through active customer engagement.
• Handles objects carefully to avoid damage to products or property.
• Follows company guidelines to clean break areas, restrooms, and to face products for proper store presentation.
• Greets customers, answers questions, and assists with bagging and transporting groceries to customers’ vehicles.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary working and shopping environment by adhering to company safety procedures and policies.

• Ability to remain courteous with customers at all times.
• Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with customers and partners.
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to recognize hazards and remedy or place appropriate warnings as soon as possible.
• Ability to report hazards to a supervisor when immediate remedy is not possible.

• Typically involves on-the-job training.
• Minimum of 16 years of age required.
• Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy.

• Continuous use of close and distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
• Stand or walk continuously; talk and hear.
• Frequent use of hands for reaching, touching, or handling; ability to push, pull, or lift objects up to 40 lbs routinely and up to 75 lbs occasionally.
• Occasionally bend, kneel, or squat; attendance at work is required.

• Typically performed in a retail store.
• Frequent exposure to outside temperatures and weather; occasional exposure to wet, slippery, or damp conditions; occasional exposure to cleaning agents.
• Quiet to moderate noise level.
