ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Administer medication and treatment prescribed by physicians
• Maintain up-to-date cumulative health records and other health related data on all students requiring nursing intervention
• Report to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on student health matters
• Assume authority, in the absence of a physician, for the care of a student who has suffered an injury or emergency illness
• Administer first aid in accordance with established first aid procedures
• Implement board policy on exclusion and re‑admission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases
• Conduct training for students related to handicap, health and hygiene
• Assist school personnel in maintaining sanitary standards in schools
• Assist staff members with necessary and required health/safety trainings
• Oversee vision/hearing screenings, BMI and nutrition for students
• Attend meetings and/or training as requested, required and/or needed
• Daily attendance and punctuality are required for the purpose of ensuring the goals of the work unit can be met
• Display professionalism in appearance, attitude, and actions
• Follow code of ethics for educators
