Position

Entry-level Shipping Technicians are expected to train through the operations skills to attain the highly skilled operations technician “Tech A” status, and will be responsible for running highly technical processes and equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Work safely at all times and wear proper personal protective equipment (P.P.E.) appropriate to the corrugated environment (safety glasses, ear protection, steel-toe shoes, gloves).
  • Inspect trailers prior to loading to ensure they are free of debris.
  • Load or assist in loading product into a trailer following shipping instructions.
  • Scan product back into inventory following shipping instructions.
  • Unload or assist in unloading finished product from a trailer following shipping instructions.
  • Inspect load in trailer to ensure it is properly loaded and correct before departure.
  • Verify count while truck is being unloaded, as allowed by customers.
  • Perform daily truck inspections and report maintenance items to management immediately.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and equipment; perform housekeeping to keep the production floor safe.
  • Contribute to achieving product quality, cost, and production goals; participate in training as assigned.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of plant operations and facility management; build team relationships with mutual respect.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in Safety/Housekeeping, Quality, Cost, Production, and Team.
  • Respond to emergency issues including troubleshooting and cleanup to minimize safety hazards, loss of quality, production, and downtime.
  • Share knowledge and learn from the team.
  • Duties and responsibilities may change based on business needs.
Minimum Qualifications and Education
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Forklift experience required
  • Clamp truck experience strongly preferred
  • Preferred candidates may have: prior experience in corrugated industry or manufacturing floor experience; related military training/experience; ability to read/interpret schematics; basic computer operations; OSHA regulation experience; self-motivated, dependable, punctual, and organized
Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for prolonged periods; maintain balance on narrow walkways
  • Ability to operate powered industrial trucks
  • Ability to reach vertically and horizontally with hands and arms
  • Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Visual acuity and color vision; depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Auditory abilities compliant with OSHA requirements
Working Conditions
  • Workspace not climate controlled; environment may reach hot and cold extremes
  • Frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions
  • Occasional exposure to high places, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration
  • Consistently loud work environment
