This position is responsible for assisting the Supervisor in coordination of the daily responsibilities of the department by ensuring the Supervisor’s instructions are communicated to the team members and carried out timely and correctly. The role also involves troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

The Maintenance Lead performs all functions of a refrigeration supervisor for a team of ten to twelve hourly technicians, except activities related to pay, payroll, clocking, reports, promotions, demotions, attendance, and disciplinary actions. This is a development position preparing an hourly team member with the skills and experience to advance to a refrigeration supervisor role.

Perform duties in accordance with Tyson safety programs to ensure a safe and accident‑free work environment.

Encourage and promote safe work practices through We Care–safety huddles, hazard recognition, and one‑on‑one safety contacts.

Execute all technical troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair functions of a Maintenance Technician or Engine Room Technician depending on prior craft experience and background.

Act as hands‑on trainer for other technicians and work with the supervisor to complete Plant Floor Demonstrated Skills evaluation and documentation.

Provide plant‑floor tactical direction for ten to twelve hourly technicians to ensure daily scheduled work is completed and documented correctly.

Meet daily with the supervisor and maintenance planner to review the proposed work order schedule, provide feedback, and ensure proper assignment and prioritization based on plant needs and team member skills.

Coordinate activities of workers engaged in maintaining and repairing ammonia refrigeration, compressed air, water and steam systems, and electrical components; run SAP‑PM daily maintenance reports, evaluate completion, and re‑prioritize the schedule as needed.

Attend daily maintenance meetings, report any unmet scheduled work, breakdowns, corrective actions, and provide feedback on major maintenance or project work.

Work with the refrigeration supervisor to perform maintenance evaluations and root‑cause problem elimination to prevent recurrence of equipment downtime.

Act as supervisor for the entire crew when the maintenance supervisor is absent.

Collaborate with the PSM coordinator to ensure team members and facilities are compliant with all aspects of the PSM program.

At least six months of maintenance or mechanical experience in a manufacturing environment.
