The HIM Tech Specialist provides clerical support along with scanning duties in the functional areas of data compilation, quantitative analysis and verification of records, maintenance of files and correspondence in the HIM Department.
Responsibilities include:
- Analyzes the assembled record for chart completion deficiencies, in accordance with regulatory requirements and medical staff rules and regulations.
- Ensures deficiencies are assigned to the appropriate medical staff member and data is entered for tracking and monitoring purposes.
- Reviews documentation and updates or clears the deficiencies as appropriate.
- Responsible for answering telephone calls and assisting visitors (including but not limited to physicians, patients, and their family members), while maintaining confidentiality.
- Retrieves, logs, prints medical records as requested by physician offices, patients, other hospitals and other entities as needed.
- Notify Director of any outstanding records, issues with equipment, processes or other job concerns.
- Take on-call rotation for retrieval of records, fax transfer records, pull power of attorney papers, etc.
- Assists with other HIM daily functions.
- Works closely with physicians and ensures they are set up to dictate into the system.
- Performs other duties as assigned

- Minimum Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. - Minimum
Work Experience:
Experience in release of information practices preferred.
