Systems Engineer, Automation Engineering
Responsibilities
- Serve as plant subject-matter expert (SME) for all automation systems and OT architecture.
- Lead automation scope for major capital projects
- Architect and maintain control system standards for logic, HMI, alarm management, and documentation.
- Solve complex, technical challenges and drive improvements.
- Identify, evaluate, and deploy new technologies (vision systems, robotics, APC, analytics).
- Lead RCAs for high-severity events and implement permanent solutions.
- Mentor and develop Level I and Level II engineers; support succession planning and skill development.
- Partner with leadership on long-term automation strategy and capital planning.
- Expert-level PLC/HMI/SCADA programming and system architecture.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage vendors.
- Strategic mindset with strong influence on plant reliability and efficiency.
- Solid understanding of plant processes (forming, drying, finishing).
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering is preferred (Electrical Engineering is preferred)
- 5+ years (preferred) working within a Controls & Automation Engineering role in continuous process manufacturing plants, or similar
- “Hands-On” problem solver capable of providing on-site and remote support to multiple plants to solve complex automation-related issues and any difficult troubleshooting issues
- Programming of Allen Bradley PLCs (Control Logix) is required.
