Job Description

Instrumentation/Electrical Technician (No Per Diem)

Performs routine maintenance, installation and integration of process control instrumentation equipment such as transmitters, controllers, integrators, recorders, and process and analytical machinery. Utilizes electrical and instrument tools (e.g., fluke meter); repairs electrical power, motor, and motor‑control circuits; communicates effectively and speaks English.

  Works integrally with coworkers, customers, and contractors

• Field fault analysis to determine instrument failures versus process problems
• Field calibration of instrumentation using proper test equipment
• Shop overhaul including component replacements, alignments, and calibration to specifications
• Repair of signal transmission facilities (tubing, wiring, etc.)
• Instrumentation involving pneumatic, electronic, and digital equipment
• Fault analysis of hard‑wire relay logic, motor‑control circuits, and 120V‑to‑480V 3‑phase motor power circuits
• Installation and modification of control circuits, including design, load calculations, and implementation of new control logic
• Fault analysis of PLC‑based systems and modification of control logic as required
• Preparation and presentation of recommendations and reports

High‑school graduate or GED equivalent; proficient oral and written communication; ability to interpret schematic drawings (pneumatic loops, relay logic diagrams, PLC control programs, motor‑control circuit diagrams). Must recognize circuit symbols for electronic components and industrial hardware; possess basic algebra for electrical calculations; install and bend electrical conduit (PVC, EMT, rigid) and instrumentation tubing. Able to lift and maneuver 50 pounds.
