Overview

Field Engineer I, II, or III (Wind/Renewables - Nationwide Opportunities!)

Location & Travel:
This is a traveling position across the US, up to 100% travel. You may be placed on a project site located in any state. Typical project duration is 8-12 months, with per diem and a monthly vehicle allowance. Eligible for routine travel home (rotation).

Responsibilities
  • Promote and adhere to company safety policies and procedures.
  • Inspect and verify quality of work on large-scale wind and solar projects (roads, excavations, concrete, substations, installations).
  • Verify construction aligns with design documents.
  • Review test and inspection reports; communicate failures to the Field Quality Manager.
  • Ensure materials comply with approved submittals and specifications.
  • Perform basic surveying and measurements for roadways and structures.
  • Organize daily activities to record QC and QA data accurately.
  • Prepare comprehensive Daily Reports detailing completed work and resource usage.
  • Prevent and address deficiencies through quality control inspections.
  • Collaborate with site management to ensure QA/QC compliance and maintain communication with construction managers.
  • Assist in developing operations and maintenance manuals.
  • Support receiving and inventory processes for site materials.
  • Create/manage punch lists for completed work.
  • Help manage production and extra work authorization logs.
  • May prepare daily project updates and validate calibrated tools.
  • Utilize construction management software for quality inspections and documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and support zero injury principles.
  • Self-starter, organized with strong interpersonal and written skills.
  • Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Proficient in software used to document, analyze and retain quality records.
  • Strong teamwork, initiative, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage tasks independently.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical procedures.
  • Ability to write daily reports and document project activities.
  • Effectively collect and record field data to ensure conformity with Quality Control procedures.
  • Implement quality control programs for assigned project tasks.
  • Ability to calculate figures and apply basic algebra and geometry concepts.
  • Clear communication with a diverse group of field staff.

Field Engineer I Requirements:

  • Compensation $65,000-$70,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent with two or more years of related construction experience.
  • Ability to complete and pass local/state SWPPP inspector program and knowledge of SWPPP project management plan.

Field Engineer II Requirements:

  • Compensation $70,000-$80,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical Engineering or related field and 1–2 years of related experience (or 3+ years for High School).
  • Ability to complete and pass local/state SWPPP inspector program and knowledge of SWPPP project management plan.

Field Engineer III Requirements:

  • Compensation $80,000-$90,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical Engineering or related field and 2–3 years of related experience (or 4+ years for High School).
