SUMMARY: The Early Childhood Special Education Teacher will provide direct therapy, inclusion therapy and consultation services to students between the ages of three and five. This job will require the teacher to travel to multiple sites daily to deliver services that are outlined in an IEP. The Early Childhood Special Education Teacher will follow all due process rules and regulations, Early Childhood program policies as well as Cooperative procedures as outlined in each policy and procedure manual.
This is a 190 day contract position.
Duties and Responsibilities- Assists with identification and evaluation of children to determine special education needs
- Participate as a team lead or member of the child’s special education team, to include due process conferencing and well as development and implementation of the IEP
- Follows due process and special education legal procedures for best practice.
- Prepares materials for implementing student’s specific goals and objectives.
- Collects data and monitors each child’s progress
- Reports quarterly IEP progress as required
- Assists with transition procedures.
- Maintains confidentiality of children.
- Complies with standards of the local school district.
- Follows child care licensing regulations.
- Follows Early Childhood Arch Ford procedures and maintains confidentiality.
- Adheres to job descriptions as defined by the ADE Program Standards.
- B.S.E. or higher in Early Childhood Special Education for 3-5 year olds
- Experience with collaboration of team members
- Demonstrates best practices for students
- Strong verbal and written skills
- Organizational skills, flexibility, and willing to transcend with current educational methodologies
- Arkansas certification with initial or standard teaching license
- Past experience working with special education or preschool special education
The employee will be required to lift heavy supplies, materials and/or files regularly and to carry them to and from sites to your vehicle. Daily travel to sites and schools is required, which may cause the employee to encounter different types of weather conditions while driving. Sitting in a student sized chair or on the floor while conducting evaluations with a student may be required.
The employee must be able to bend, stoop, walk, and stand for extended periods of time while engaging with preschoolers. The employee should expect to be outside at times during the day, when it is necessary for walking a child to and from their classroom or the playground to the therapy room.
