Job DescriptionPosition Summary: The In-District Math Coach provides instructional leadership and job-embedded professional learning to support high-quality mathematics instruction across the district. This position focuses on strengthening Tier I instruction, coaching adult learners in the implementation of high-quality instructional materials, using data and supporting targeted interventions to improve student achievement. The Math Coach partners with teachers, administrators, and district leaders to build capacity and ensure consistent implementation of high-quality instructional materials.
EssentialResponsibilities Instructional Coaching & Professional Learning
- Emphasis on K‑8, Algebra and Geometry.
- Provide job-embedded coaching to teachers, including modeling lessons, co‑teaching, observation with feedback, and collaborative planning.
- Facilitate professional learning sessions focused on effective math instruction and standards alignment.
- Support adult learners through research‑based coaching practices that build teacher capacity and confidence.
- Promote instructional strategies that increase student engagement and ensure students carry the cognitive load.
- Support teachers in aligning instruction to state mathematics standards.
- Ensure fidelity and effective implementation of high‑quality instructional materials, including Savvas en Vision curriculum.
- Collaborate with campus and district leaders to monitor curriculum pacing and vertical alignment.
- Support the development of standards‑based grading practices.
- Assist teachers in writing high‑quality common formative assessments aligned to priority standards.
- Develop and refine assessment rubrics aligned to standards‑based grading practices.
- Support teachers in analyzing and disaggregating student performance data.
- Provide training and guidance on using the ATLAS Classroom Portal to access, interpret, and apply assessment data to instructional planning.
- Lead data discussions focused on identifying trends, gaps, and targeted interventions.
- Work collaboratively with campus administrators and district teams to support district instructional priorities.
- Participate in learning walks, instructional rounds, and data reviews.
- Support RTI processes by ensuring interventions are standards‑aligned and data‑informed.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism within the district and building leadership when working with teachers and student performance data.
- Valid teaching license.
- Successful experience in coaching adult learners in classroom instructional strategies and curriculum implementation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of state mathematics standards and standards alignment practices.
