Overview
KIPP Delta Public Schools operates tuition-free, open-enrollment college-preparatory charter schools in the Arkansas Delta, serving over 1,000 students in Helena and Blytheville. Through a rigorous PreK-12 program and an asset-based approach, KIPP empowers students to discover their purpose and expand regional opportunities.
Responsibilities- Assist in implementing instructional activities and lesson plans as directed by the lead teacher.
- Support students with academic tasks, including reading, writing, and mathematics.
- Prepare and organize classroom materials and resources.
- Supervise children during classroom activities, meals, recess, and transitions to ensure safety and engagement.
- Provide one-on-one or small-group support to students needing additional assistance.
- Monitor, document, and communicate student behavior and academic progress with teachers, staff, and parents.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards.
- Adhere to all state and federal regulations and district policies and procedures.
- Participate in professional development and training sessions as required.
Pre-K Instructional Assistants support the ABC preschool program by delivering high-quality early childhood education. Under the supervision of certified teachers, the assistant facilitates instructional activities, manages classroom behavior, and provides individualized or small-group support to students, fostering a nurturing and effective learning environment.
The role is performed in a standard classroom setting, which may include special education environments. Duties may involve exposure to various student behaviors and require flexibility to adapt to different instructional needs.
QualificationsMust hold one of the following:
- An Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development
- Birth to Pre-K Credential
- Technical Certificate
- Certificate of Proficiency
- Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential
- Must pass state and federal background checks, including fingerprinting and child maltreatment registry checks.
- Participate in professional development as required by ADE.
- Strong knowledge in core academic subjects; proficiency in integrating technology into instruction.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; capable of standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
- Comfortable assisting with personal care tasks as needed.
- Experience in a preschool or elementary environment preferred.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
Instructional Assistant wages will be based on individual experience and within the SY 2025-26 Salary Schedule range.
